Most people only call a lawyer when something has gone wrong. I help you get ahead of it.
Before starting the firm, I was General Counsel and Data Protection Officer at a global tech company in London, sitting across the table from some of the world’s biggest banks and insurers. Over more than ten years, I’ve negotiated over A$95 million in contract value across six countries, for and against Fortune 500 companies, global production houses and tech companies. Then I came home to Newcastle, New South Wales, where I grew up. These days I get to bring that experience to founders, growing businesses and homebuyers across Australia and the UK, and I’m involved in every matter we take on.
Our story: a dream that started in Newcastle
The dream was never just to be a lawyer. It was to break free of corporate structures, make good legal advice easier to reach, and make every client feel heard.
1950s · The roots
Where the work ethic comes from
All four of Eugénie’s grandparents migrated to Australia from Greece and Cyprus in the 1950s and built new lives through hard work.
“They showed me that you earn everything you have.”
Growing up · The dream
The three-year-old who wanted to be a lawyer
Eugénie knew she wanted to be a lawyer from the age of three. She grew up in Newcastle, started working young, and never let go of the plan.
“I always knew. I just had to do the work to get there.”
2016–2025 · The experience
From Sydney law firms to the London boardroom
Eugénie studied law and international relations at Macquarie University, worked her way through Sydney law firms and Thomson Reuters, and was admitted in NSW in 2020. In London she rose to General Counsel and Data Protection Officer at a global tech company, negotiating with FTSE 100 and Fortune 500 companies.
“I learned what good legal support looks like from both sides of the table.”
2026 · Doors open
Fixed-fee lawyers, built around our clients
In 2026 we opened Eugénie Michael Lawyers in Sydney, Newcastle and London to make senior legal advice easier to reach: practical, fixed-fee advice in plain English, delivered with intention.
“We’re customer-led. If you don’t feel heard, we haven’t done our job.”
Today · What’s next
Growing, with clients at the centre
We’re growing our team and taking on clients in new markets. However much we grow, every client should feel heard, appreciated and looked after, from the first call until the matter is closed.
“Clear scope, upfront pricing, plain English. From the first call to the final signature.”
What you can count on.
Fixed fee, in writing
As fixed-fee lawyers, we agree the price before we start. If the scope changes, nothing extra is billed until you approve it.
Senior oversight on every matter
Eugénie oversees every matter, so you get the kind of senior advice big companies rely on, at every step.

In our clients' words
Eugénie is the reason we felt ready to sell. We needed the full commercial stack before we could go to market, customer terms, privacy, the data agreement, the subscription contract and she stayed in it with us until we were actually confident to put it in front of customers. Dedicated, sharp, and an A-player. If you are taking a company to market and you want counsel who treats that as her job, work with her.

We engaged Eugenie to review and modernise our AI usage, information security and website privacy policies; as well as our terms of service. Eugenie’s expertise with this stuff is very impressive. She was incredibly helpful, detailed, friendly and patient throughout the entire process. An absolute joy to work with.

Frequently asked questions
Why use a specialist firm instead of a large firm?
You get senior advice directly, quicker turnaround and a fee agreed before work begins, without paying for layers of partners, associates and overheads that do not add value to your matter.
How much does it cost?
We are fixed-fee lawyers, so every matter has a fixed fee or monthly retainer, agreed in writing before work begins.
What happens on the first call?
We talk through what you need. If we’re a fit, you’ll get a fixed quote in writing before any work begins.
I’ve had a bad experience with a lawyer before. What will be different?
Plain English advice, a fixed fee or retainer agreed in writing, and regular updates so you always know where your matter stands and what happens next.
Can you act as our in-house lawyer without a full-time hire?
Yes. Our fractional legal counsel retainer gives you a senior lawyer on call for a fixed monthly fee, covering contracts, privacy and day-to-day legal questions as they come up.
Do you work with clients outside Sydney?
Yes. We meet by video, so we act for clients across Australia and the United Kingdom.
How do I get started?
